Three Year IEP's: "Vastly Inappropriate" by Mary Anne Egan
I think it is extremely important to remember that with any child, disability
or not, a three year IEP or even just goals and objectives projected over a
three year period is vastly inappropriate. Even in the business environment
although we may shoot for long term goals it is not a likely scenario that
anyone would forgo an annual review for a three year one. No one benefits under
these circumstances it is simply another method of taking responsibility out of
the realm of our education system. Yet for the development of any child it is an
ineffective solution to their development and well being. Isn't that what the
education system should be fighting for not against?
