NJ Student Advocacy Union
Benefit Recital Registration
Date of Recital: April 1, 2006

Dear music lovers and student supporters,

We have scheduled a benefit music concert / recital for 2 pm, Saturday April 1, 2006 at the Montgomery Center for the Arts in Skillman, NJ (just north of Princeton).  Proceeds raised will contribute toward the organizing drive of the New Jersey Student Advocacy Union to defend and expand the rights of children with disabilities in public education and others facing adversity in our public schools.

We are looking for musicians who are interested in performing.  We want to present as much as possible, the musical talent of those who face disabilities and other learning challenges.  The range of performances could include everything from “Twinkle-Twinkle” to Beethoven Sonatas.  The recital will be inclusive of all who are interested in participating.  The opportunity will not only provide for the enjoyment of a range of excellent music but will allow us to share and enjoy the talents of our children, some of whom have challenges to surmount in pursuit of their musical achievements.  A reception afterwards will provide a social opportunity for performers and families.

If you are interested in attending this show or if you have a child who would like to perform, please contact us at Advocate@StudentAdvocate-NJ.org or by calling 908-881-5275.  We will be firming up the date and location in coming days.

The recital will also be an opportunity for supporters of our children to join our organization but you can attend and enjoy the concert whether or not you become part of the NJ Student Advocacy Union.  See link below for more information about the NJ Student Advocacy Union.

The funds raised will pay for the rental of the concert room first.  Over and above, funds will allow us to continue to challenge the NJ State Department of Education on behalf of our children with special needs whose rights are being diminished in a process that thus far has disdained the resounding concerns of parents.  Funds will be used for printing and mailing of The NJ Student Advocate newspaper and the promotion of activities to organize parents and supporters on behalf of our children.  Most importantly, funds will be used to promote the May 17 Statewide Mobilization for Our Children's Rights.

In Solidarity with Our Children,

Bob Witanek
